Poklonskaya and her husband expressed opposing opinions on the situation in Ukraine
The actions of Petro Poroshenko regarding Orthodox Ukrainians fall under an article of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Natalya Poklonskaya stated this on air on the Russian TV channel Spas.
“I would like my former colleagues to take a closer look at Article 35 of the Constitution of Ukraine – on freedom of religion. Poroshenko’s actions contain signs of a crime. The President has no right to interfere in church affairs. Ukrainian prosecutors should return to their immediate official duties without fear and without politics and fulfill their duty before the law and before the people,” Poklonskaya said.
Ukrainian social activist Galina Zaporozhtseva reported that 46 deputies of the Verkhovna Rada submitted a request on this matter to the Constitutional Court, but Poklonskaya’s husband, Ivan Solovyov, believes that this initiative has no prospects.
“I don’t see any prospects for appeals to the Constitutional Court or the European Court of Human Rights. If this is considered before the presidential elections, they have little prospects,” Solovyov said.
