Poklonskaya compared the “Medvedchuk Plan” with a “terrible end” for Donbass
It is difficult to imagine what kind of return of Donbass to Ukraine we can talk about after what the local residents endured. The future of the LDPR should be determined only taking into account the opinion of the population.
Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Natalya Poklonskaya stated this during a press conference, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“During the election campaign in Ukraine, Medvedchuk said that the leaders of the LDPR are ready for interaction, for contact with the leaders of the former Ukraine. Is reverse integration of Donbass into the territory of Ukraine possible, and in what form, that is, federalization or what will happen after such opportunities?” - the question was asked.
“This is a difficult issue, especially for residents of Donbass. What they experienced, what they had to see (almost every family lost a loved one) - and what kind of return can we talk about here? But only for the purpose of ending the war, stopping this horror, which everyone is already tired of.
It is impossible to live endlessly in horror - a terrible end is better than endless horror, as they also say. But the point is that it is necessary, again, to establish some kind of compromises here diplomatically, to find a consensus and to develop a common position, the basis on which the future life of Ukraine and Donbass will be built. What this basis will be is up to the residents of Donbass to decide,” Poklonskaya said.
Earlier, during a visit to Donetsk, she stated that she sees the future of the LDPR as full-fledged subjects of Russia.
“The test that you have passed and have been going through for five years now indicates that Donbass has a great future ahead. And Donbass will be a prosperous, full-fledged subject of the Russian Federation,” Poklonskaya said.
The number of supporters of returning to Ukraine in the LDPR fluctuates within the statistical error - 2%, previously stated Alexander Kazakov, adviser to the deceased leader of the Donetsk Republic Alexander Zakharchenko.
