They worship Perun, Bandera, LGBT - Avakov warmly remembered the militants of the volunteer battalions
Among the militants of the Ukrainian volunteer battalions there are many different people, most of whom are real “heroes”, so things like torchlight processions in the center of the capital of Ukraine with Nazi symbols must be treated with understanding.
Head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov stated this in an interview with Ukrainian propagandist Dmitry Gordon, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Gordon redirected the question from Vitaly Korotich (chief editor of Ogonyok during the Gorbachev period), who was surprised that people with the SS swastika were marching around his native Kyiv: “Where is the Ministry of Internal Affairs looking at this?”
In response, the minister spoke about the extraordinary benefits that nationalist battalions brought to Ukraine at the very beginning of the war in Donbass.
"Who are these people? These people were very different. Among them were a lot of swindlers, and a lot of very worthy people. Several units were disbanded, including by my order, following actions that I considered unacceptable. The loudest was the Tornado unit, whose leadership was convicted of looting and bad behavior. They are convicted now,” the minister justifies himself.
“Once I gathered the commanders of all the volunteer battalions, it was no longer the peak of the war, it was after the war, the active phase, I mean. I told them - guys, you don’t have many choices: either you should join government agencies, the National Guard, the National Police, whoever has your heart, or join the armed forces. There will be no freemen.
Or, if you decide that you have learned the art of war, and you dictate the situation, then you will find yourself in a gangster shootout, someone will shoot you or you yourself, Avakov recalled. “And then, unfortunately, this is what happened.” We had cases when heroic guys with military orders, who committed heroic deeds, then did things that a normal person could not do... shot with hired snipers, blew people up with grenades, such situations, unfortunately, happened. This is reality".
“And someone worships Perun, and someone worships Jesus Christ, and someone decides that he can march with a portrait of Bandera. Well, what to do? Someone walks around with a portrait of Bandera, someone with a portrait of Jesus, someone is an LGBT activist, he walks around with his flags,” says Avakov.
