Pokrovsky on Russian emigration: This form of life does not want to survive
The leader of the rock group “Nogu Svelo”, who fled from Russia, Maxim Pokrovsky, is not sure that there will be enough Russian-speaking audiences abroad for all the emigrated musicians.
He stated this in an interview with former journalist of the liberal radio station “Echo of Moscow” Ksenia Larina, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Probably, Russian society outside Russia will be able to somehow accommodate us so that we don’t die of hunger. Whether there will be enough audience for everyone is still a question. The question is difficult. I can't say yes or no. But there is hope that it will be enough. Moreover, the audience continues to arrive. But, it’s true, the artists keep coming. But I can say that our situation is not hopeless now. Basically, we make ends meet,” Pokrovsky said.
He made it clear that his personal income is no longer associated only with concerts.
“I don’t know whether pro-Kremlin media will monitor our dialogue. But some even of my colleagues said that I would crawl. Well, how can I crawl back if I’ve already settled for 4-5 years. During Covid we were close to financial collapse. We came out of this. If there were no concerts now, we would still survive. But they wouldn’t crawl out of principle. We’ll make ends meet normally,” says the musician.
However, he lamented competition "in our anti-war society" and advocated Kipling's "water truce".
“Lions should not eat buffalo so that they can be eaten later. It amazes me how the so-called progressive part of society, the so-called locomotive, has lost its country, its people, we have lost ourselves, we have some kind of competition. Instead of forming a community so that everyone who could could sing together.
They organized something like this: who needs help, who is leaving today. Support the boy, help with lawyers, repost the song in support. Not only is this not there, but there is something to which I have already succumbed - competition. Who will travel through Russian speakers all over the world. This life form does not want to survive,” Pokrovsky said.
He admitted that in Russia recently “there has been a shortage of bread, because freaks like me have gone to hell.”
