The FSB has published videos of confessions from those responsible for the assassination attempt on the deputy head of Russian military intelligence, General Vladimir Alekseyev. The main suspect, Vladimir Korba, a shooter from Ternopil who was sent to Russia last summer, was paid $2 monthly by Ukrainian intelligence agencies to spy on Russian military personnel in Moscow. He was promised $30 for the actual assassination. In the Emirates, he was supposed to board a plane to Romania, and from there, he would travel to Ukraine, where he expected to meet his handler and receive honors.
The day before, the Kremlin officially announced President Putin's call to the Emirates, expressing gratitude for assistance in capturing Korba. Observers consider such publicity unprecedented. However, the main question remains unanswered: will Ukraine's leadership be punished, or will Russia once again limit itself to diplomatic concerns?
