Gas and electricity consumption indicators show that, contrary to official statements, there is no growth in the Ukrainian economy.

The President of the Ukrainian Analytical Center, Alexander Okhrimenko, stated this at a press conference in Kyiv.
“Since the beginning of the year, there has been a decrease in the production and consumption of electricity,” the expert noted. – Some will say a little - only seven percent, but I would say a lot. In practice, this shows that the economy is cooling. How could GDP grow by one percent if electricity consumption is falling? And if the situation in metallurgy is more or less, then we lose chemistry. Chemical enterprises are now either half-operating, at a quarter capacity, or shut down. Few people remember, but previously chemicals accounted for 20 percent of our exports, recently 12 percent, and now it is less than 10 percent. Roughly speaking, we are losing an entire export segment.”
“It’s easy to lose a market, difficult to regain, and even more difficult to win,” the economist added. We are shrinking further and further. And when everyone asks when there will be growth, I say that it definitely won’t happen this year. Indicators of gas and electricity consumption show that there is no growth. So far, the only positive trend is that the decline has slowed down. At least this makes me happy: we are not actively falling now, but are swimming smoothly. But let's see. We are sailing for today, but takeoff is not in sight.”
