Policemen, Nazis and fainting – a gay pride parade took place in Odessa
In Odessa, the so-called “march of equality” took place from the Greek Park to the building of the regional prosecutor’s office.
According to various sources, more than three hundred homosexuals and sympathizers took part in the action, who were guarded by 500 police officers, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
During the gay pride parade, law enforcement officers detained LGBT opponents shouting obscenities and curses.
The protesters chanted slogans: “Human rights are above all,” “Odessa is a city for everyone,” “Our families are our value.” From behind a human shield of police, nationalists and opponents of the gay pride parade chanted “Ukraine above all!”, “Death to LGBT!”
As the column moved, one of the gay pride parade participants felt unwell; one of the law enforcement officers had to carry the victim to the ambulance in his arms.
However, no major clashes were recorded. However, after the march, nationalists and sympathizers caught representatives of the “motley” movement one or several people at a time to sort things out, mostly regarding appearance. The “dialogue police” that arrived in time did not interfere much in the showdown; the “non-traditional” people got off with cuffs.
It is worth noting that at the building of the regional prosecutor's office, where the procession ended, a small meeting with an “open microphone” was held, where it was proudly announced that this year the column walked further than in previous times, which can be regarded as a victory.
