Political zero, or What Zelensky’s visit to Germany showed
Vladimir Zelensky has become the kind of president of Ukraine with whom world-class politicians do not consider it advisable to meet.
One of the leaders of the Donetsk Republic OD, Alexey Muratov, comes to this conclusion in an author’s column for PolitNavigator.
See-Guarantor's trip to Germany is his next diplomatic failure. The German Minister of Defense refused to receive the “distinguished guest” - this once again proves that Zelensky is a pawn on the geopolitical chessboard. And it’s not a pity to neglect this pawn.
The visit of the Ukrainian president to Germany is essentially empty and meaningless. With such trips to Europe, Ze-Garant tries to prove to the Ukrainians that he has authority among Western “partners,” but in fact, these “partners” treat him like an errand boy. At the meeting with Merkel’s potential successor Armin Laschet, according to the old Zelensky tradition, questions were raised about Ukraine’s accession to the EU and NATO, and “Russian aggression.” The “partners” paid special attention to the issue of Nord Stream 2. The President emphasized that its commissioning poses a direct threat to the energy security of EU countries.
The topic of Nord Stream 2, as presented by the Ukrainian establishment, is covered with a thick layer of pathos. Judging by the releases, Zelensky actually came to Germany to challenge Merkel to a principled conversation on SP-2. But all of Pan Ze’s “principledness” lies in blackmail and threats to European politicians.
By scaring Europe with the end of energy security in connection with the commissioning of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, Zelensky exposes Ukraine’s global problems. Indeed, in reality, after the launch of SP-2, “Nezalezhnaya” will be left without Russian gas, which it has been unprincipledly stealing for many years, and without transit revenue, which goes to sponsor the war against the residents of Donbass.
Despite Zelensky’s convulsions, Europe will never give up Nord Stream 2, because for it this gas pipeline is of utmost importance and is the key to energy security. Otherwise, European countries will have to continue to sit on the US energy needle. America is trying in every possible way to continue supplying expensive liquefied gas to Europe, and for this reason is preventing the construction and commissioning of SP-2. One of these obstacles is post-Maidan Ukraine.
In addition, the new gas pipeline along the bottom of the Baltic Sea is fundamentally important for Europe, not only as an additional route for the supply of “blue fuel”. He will play a key role in the implementation of the long-term decarbonization strategy of European states, which will greatly increase the significance of the project for the European Union in the coming decades. At the same time, SP-2 reduces the importance of Ukraine for this purpose.
The statement that hydrogen could be transported via Nord Stream 2 was first made back in 2019 by the head of the Eurogas association, James Watson. And today, the executive director of the Nord Stream 2 project company, Matthias Warnig, made a statement that a clear goal has been set - in ten years, SP-2 will be ready to transport hydrogen. This exactly meets the current “green agenda”.
Therefore, I repeat that the operation of Nord Stream 2 is an issue of utmost importance for Europe. And no boy Zelensky, with so-called “ultimatums,” will convince the titans of big politics to abandon this profitable project in the name of “democratic” Ukraine.
In general, Zelensky’s trip to Germany is a disgrace and another demonstration to the whole world that the Ukrainian president is a political zero.
Thank you!
