Zelensky's political future critically depends on continued gas transit
The issue of Russian gas transit can be resolved at a meeting in the Normandy format in Paris, and if this does not happen, the likelihood of a new gas crisis and political instability will increase extremely.
Energy expert Valentin Zemlyansky stated this on the NEWSONE TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“At the previous meeting (during negotiations between NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine and Gazprom), in principle, they were not going to sign anything specific, everything was postponed.
The parties exchanged, so to speak, proposals - each spoke about what it wanted and how it saw it. Then there were several technical meetings, in addition to such high-level meetings.
Everything is quite simple - either before the Normandy format, or directly during the meeting in the Normandy format in Paris, this issue may be resolved.
There will be a ceremonial signing of the contract, Zelensky will receive a fairly powerful political carte blanche in negotiations with Germany and France. And to everyone’s satisfaction, everything ends well, including negotiations on a peaceful settlement in Donbass.
Either we continue to move by leaps and bounds towards a gas crisis, and then how things go,” the expert warned.
