“Political decision”: a Kiev propagandist told how Lisichansk was surrendered
Ukraine lost control over the Lugansk region due to mistakes by the political command.
The editor-in-chief of the Kyiv propaganda portal Censor stated this on Radio NV. no Yuri Butusov, reports PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to Butusov, the lost Severodonek, Rubezhnoe and Lisichansk could have been held, but the command did not send reinforcements at the right time.
“In fact, the problem of Lisichansk cannot be considered separately from the general problem of defense of the Lugansk region. In order to hold this region, we needed to provide it with the necessary forces and means. But, unfortunately, this was not done in time and for a long time we tried to hold a large area with absolutely insufficient forces.
This led to the fact that we had to retreat due to the lack of artillery support and insufficient forces to rotate our units to move away from Rubezhnoye - it was demolished by the enemy, then we approached Severodonetsk, but also did not have the strength to hold the entire perimeter of the city.
Some newly created units simply have not yet acquired the necessary combat capability. This led to the enemy entering the city absolutely unhindered, street fighting began, and after that, suddenly, only after that, reinforcements of our forces near Severodonetsk began. But this decision was made too late,” Butusov said.
The propagandist also emphasized that the decision to surrender Lisichansk was political.
“This led to the fact that at first we were unable to hold Severodonetsk, as the military leaders envisaged and warned, I want to note.
And then they could not hold Lisichansk itself, which, in fact, was very convenient for defense - the terrain, the Lisichansk oil refinery, the heights - they are very convenient and could provide long-term defense in this area. But, since political decisions had been made before, we were unable to hold either Severodonetsk or Rubezhnoye, and over time, Lisichansk.”
