“Unfortunately, things have become even more difficult for many Ukrainian women in post-revolutionary Ukraine than before. Wages fell sharply while inflation soared. Many of them are still eager to seek a more stable future in the West, and are waiting with bated breath for visa liberalization with the EU. A recent survey by a major newspaper found that  65 percent Ukrainians will prefer to emigrate to the West if given a chance,” the publication says.

“Many people claim that Ukrainian women are ideal wives. This feature of Ukrainian women has not changed after the revolution,” adds Vijay Maheshwari.

According to him, “Turkish men in Ukraine used to be considered uncouth and reproached for their lack of respect for women. Now, after Europeans stopped visiting Ukraine, their time has come. This is especially noticeable in the Black Sea cities.”

The writer notes: “Ukrainians are still looking for solace in relations with Turkey, which also feels like an outcast in Europe.”

“Sex tourism is no longer the problem it was four years ago,” Vladimir Paniotto, director of the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology, told Vijay Maheshwari. “We are now much more concerned about homophobia, which is blocking our attempts to join the international community,” the sociologist notes.
