European politicians imposed sanctions against Russia against the will of the people - Italian MP in Crimea
European politicians imposed sanctions against Russia, ignoring the opinions of their people. Umberto Boselli, deputy of the Castel Arquato City Council, stated this during the round “The Role of Sanctions in Relations between Russia and the European Union”, held in Sevastopol.

“European policies are failing for the most part now because they don’t look at the root cause – they don’t pay attention to their population. Only the people can make their choice, as they did in Crimea - in favor of Russia. Politicians in the EU don’t understand this, but people must have the right to self-determination,” Boselli said.
He believes that the experience of Crimea could be useful for Europe, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I would like European countries to unite against sanctions, but they are very different. Therefore, we are especially interested in the experience of Crimea, where different peoples live together without problems. This is what is missing in Europe, where attitudes towards Muslims have now worsened,” Boselli said.
