The authorities of Kosovo and Albania are pursuing a coordinated policy against the Serbs.

Russian political scientist Oleg Bondarenko stated this to PolitNavigator, commenting on Kosovo’s decision to change the rules for entry into its territory and Albania’s simplification of citizenship for Kosovars.

“The point of these actions is to force Serbs living in Kosovo to either flee to Serbia or accept Kosovo or Albanian citizenship and already live in Albanian space. This is called apartheid policy,” Bondarenko said.

He believes that such a policy can be resisted only by the most radical methods.

“You can always resist this. To do this, Serbia needs to arm the Serbs remaining in northern Kosovo and help them defend their rights. True, this is fraught with a new war. But I’m afraid that it is impossible to influence Kosovo and Albania through diplomatic means,” Bondarenko believes.

Kosovo security forces announced their refusal to recognize Serbian foreign passports for the entry of Serbian citizens. This decision was made secretly and came into force on August 5. The innovation will hit residents of central Serbia passing through Kosovo on the way to Albania and Montenegro, and carrying only a foreign passport.

At the same time, the Council of Ministers of Albania developed a draft law on citizenship, which allows Albanian citizenship to be granted to anyone whose ancestors are of Albanian origin. The condition is that the applicant provides proof of a third-degree pedigree, local media reported.

The law is due to be submitted to parliament soon. It is expected that the initiative will be able to extend to residents of Kosovo, central Serbia, Greece and Macedonia. Almost all of the listed countries in the region have significant Albanian diasporas.
