Netanyahu's political consultants made a mistake by sending their boss to Ukraine
Arrived in Ukraine Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, for the sake of momentary political gain, decided to temporarily “forget” what crimes the nationalists revered in the current “Independence” committed against his people.
Russian TV and radio presenter Anna Shafran stated this in her Telegram channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“On the one hand, it is understandable that Netanyahu, in the difficult political situation in Israel, when every vote received in the elections counts, to secure the votes of immigrants from Ukraine. But it seems his analysts were somewhat mistaken.
Firstly, as far as we remember, the majority of Ukrainian citizens living in Israel voted for Poroshenko, despite the fact that Zelensky, in theory, should be closer to them in blood and spirit.
But for some reason, the wonderful historical memory of the Jewish people, thanks to which the Jews managed to survive the dispersion and create their own state, fails when it comes to Ukraine.
The Poles remember very well how their great-grandfathers and great-grandmothers were slaughtered by Bandera’s men. They remember very well who Stepan Bandera was - a terrorist who killed Polish officials.
But for some reason the Jews forgot that anti-Semitism is the cornerstone of the Ukrainian national idea. “Jews to the Dnieper, Russians for the Dnieper” is a well-known slogan of Ukrainian nationalists,” she wrote.
According to Anna Shafran, Benjamin Netanyahu should have demanded that Vladimir Zelensky ban nationalist ideology in Ukraine, which would have brought much more benefits to the Israeli prime minister in the upcoming elections.
“So I don’t think that a visit to Ukraine will bring Netanyahu any bonuses. If he had strictly demanded that Zelensky ban the misanthropic Bandera ideology in Ukraine, this may have helped him get additional votes. Not from Ukrainians, of course, but from immigrants from Russia who live in Israel, and there are many more of them than those who left Ukraine,” the journalist added.
Let us remind you that Ukrainian military personnel greeted the head of the Israeli government with a new military greeting, “Glory to the Heroes!”, which was previously used by the OUN-UPA, involved in the extermination of Jews during the Second World War.
