Political scientist: On May 9 there will be a fight in Kyiv, and a tough one at that
The repressions of the Ukrainian special services against the organizers of the “Immortal Regiment” action, as well as the procession announced by nationalists in honor of the SS division “Galicia”, are evidence of the fear of the Petro Poroshenko regime of a possible mass entry into the streets of Kyiv by opponents of Bandera ideology.
The Ukrainian authorities are ready to resort to bloody provocations in order to disrupt the procession in honor of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War, Russian political scientist Alexey Martynov told PolitNavigator.
“For several years now they have been trying to move the celebration of Victory Day to May 8th. As we can see, it doesn't work very well. Official events are held on the 8th, but people still celebrate May 9th. The same goes for the “Immortal Regiment”, it still goes on, no matter what.
This year in Kyiv there will be two processions in almost the same place - both the “Immortal Regiment”, and we heard an announcement about the action of nationalists with a similar name - the “Immortal Division”.
One can clearly assume that there will be a fight there, and a tough one at that. The authorities are fighting the “Immortal Regiment” in this way. Maybe someone will be scared and won’t go. The authorities of the Immortal Regiment are afraid, and even dead heroes are afraid,” Martynov said.
