Political scientist: The arrest of the leader of the Communist Party of Ukraine in Kharkov is an attempt by Kyiv to prevent a riot in the city
The arrest of Kharkov communist leader Alla Alexandrovskaya is an attempt by the Ukrainian authorities to prevent a riot in the city, says political scientist Semyon Uralov. In his opinion, the true goal of the Ukrainian security forces is Alla’s son, Alexander Alexandrovskoy, a young Kharkov social activist who is capable of organizing a protest against the regime of Petro Poroshenko.

“In Kharkov, just being a communist is now dangerous. I met Alla Alexandrovna in 2007 or 2008. When in Ukraine it was still possible to be a legal communist. The logic of the Kyiv authorities can be understood. Kharkov is an engineering and industrial city. 50 km from the border with Russia.
A pro-Russian rebellion similar to the one in Donbass and Crimea is no longer possible - because they have cleared it out. But a social type of rebellion is possible. Therefore, the communists are being pressured demonstrably. This is what a 68-year-old woman can do? Start an uprising?
No, Alla Alexandrovskaya, the mother of Alexander Alexandrovsky, was taken hostage. This is a fact that must be recognized. The communists of Russia are just a resort compared to the communists of the first capital of the Ukrainian SSR - the city of Kharkov,” Uralov argues in his blog.
