The result of yesterday’s round of negotiations in Minsk on the Donbass was cautious optimism, political scientist Denis Denisov told PolitNavigator.

“Once again, an agreement has been reached on a ceasefire on both sides, which we hope will last longer than the previous ones. There is hope that there will be a real algorithm for the disengagement of armed forces in Stanitsa Luganskaya, which was also agreed upon yesterday.
They are already entering a direct line of negotiations on the exchange of prisoners according to the “all for all” formula. If we take it as a whole, then the meeting is, in principle, positive. The most important thing is that the agreements that were reached are now implemented in practice.
There is some hope that Ukraine is interested in demonstrating to the United States that they are doing at least something. In this regard, it is quite possible that at least the degree of shelling will be reduced,” Denisov said.
