The blockade of Crimea and Donbass was a mistake and brought more harm to Ukraine, Ukrainian political scientist Vadim Karasev said in his blog.

“Indeed, the blockade of both Donbass and Crimea has recently been working against Ukraine and into the hands of the aggressor... As a result, the occupied territory ended up in the ruble zone, and consumers support the producers of goods of the aggressor country,” he wrote.
Instead of a blockade, Karasev proposes a whole series of projects.
“Next to the occupied territories (Donbass, Crimea) there should be logistics centers, commodity fairs, administrative service hubs, financial and banking services markets... Broadcasting to the occupied territory should not involve information channels, but cultural and entertainment channels. For example, cinema (regular film content from our channels: modern films, TV series, cartoons in Ukrainian, Russian-language films with Ukrainian subtitles). Plus – sports, music, travel. It's enough. People in the occupied territories no longer watch the news, but they need Ukrainian content to take a break from reality,” says the Ukrainian expert.
Crimean writer Sergei Yukhin sarcastically commented on Karasev’s ideas.
“A fool gets rich with thoughts) how many films have been made in Ukraine over the last five years in order to carry out expansion? Or are you going to titrate Russian films? Administrative services of Ukraine in Donbass and Crimea are of course a super important point! I can just see endless queues at Ukrainian bureaucratic organizations and banks,” Yukhin laughs.
