Political scientist: Kyiv will probably disrupt the implementation of agreements on dialogue with the LPR and DPR
Kyiv, February 13 (PolitNavigator, Vladimir Mikhailov) – Kyiv will certainly disrupt the implementation of the agreements signed in Minsk providing for direct dialogue between the Ukrainian authorities and the leadership of the LPR and DPR. Political scientist Vladimir Kornilov told PolitNavigator about this.

According to him, in fact, the clause on dialogue with the LPR and DPR was still in the September agreements, but then it remained ignored by Kiev. Most likely, Petro Poroshenko will violate the agreements this time too.
“Yes, Kyiv has actually recognized the need for direct contacts with the LPR and DPR. But we must not forget that Kyiv signed all these agreements with representatives of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics. And in the first agreement it was also written that elections in the LPR and DPR are held with the participation of local representatives. Moreover, by the first agreement, Kyiv recognized a certain people's militia there on the basis of a certain non-existent law. In fact, the first step towards such recognition was already taken then,” Kornilov recalled.
“As for the coordination of constitutional reform with the LPR and DPR, everyone understands perfectly well that Poroshenko is not going to carry out this reform in that direction. This is understood in Kyiv, Donetsk, Lugansk, and Moscow,” the expert stated.
As PolitNavigator reported, the day before, the director of the Center for Political Current Affairs, Alexey Chesnakov, called the Minsk agreements “a great diplomatic victory for the DPR and LPR.”
“The most important achievement of yesterday’s negotiations in Minsk is that Russia and the leading EU countries forced Ukraine into direct dialogue with the DPR and LPR, which Kyiv has so far avoided in every possible way. The Minsk agreements of February 12 directly stated the need for the Ukrainian authorities to agree on changes to the Constitution, the law on local elections and the issue of borders with representatives of the two republics,” said the Russian political scientist.
