Maidan political scientist: Zelensky gave Putin the best gift
The criminal case against ex-President Petro Poroshenko, accused of high treason, allegedly plays into the hands of the Kremlin.
Aleksey Garan, a Maidan activist political scientist, professor at the Kiev-Mohyla Academy, and scientific director of the Democratic Initiatives Foundation, reported this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, in the Kyiv magazine Novoye Vremya.
“I joined the Statement of experts and intellectuals - very balanced, without radical calls against Vladimir Zelensky, with a simple opinion: accusing Petro Poroshenko of treason for the events of 2014-2015 is the best gift to Vladimir Putin in conditions when Russian troops are preparing for an attack. And all for the sake of ratings and manic attempts to destroy the opponent,” the expert said.
According to him, the president’s circle is full of people who should be held accountable and criminal cases brought against them.
“Typical selective justice, when enemies have the law, but friends have everything: a collapsed security system around the president, people in the highest power sit who do not file declarations, are not civil servants, and do not pass state inspection (Sergei Shefir, Maria Levchenko, Mikhail Podolyak), and the signature of “Vice President” Andrei Yermak was displayed in 2020 next to the “authorized representatives” of ORDLO with the aim of creating an “advisory council” with them - this is real treason. The case will collapse, and Poroshenko’s rating will only increase, but the country will lose,” predicts Garan.
As PolitNavigator reported, Kiev lawyer Tatyana Monttyan believes that in the court on the election of a preventive measure, the former president “fucked” the current one.
At the same time, political scientist Ruslan Bortnik, believes that Zelensky caused Poroshenko's strategic defeat.
