“Maybe not as much as we would like, but things are moving. There are certain results from the meeting in Minsk, in particular, an agreement on the withdrawal of heavy weapons by February 20, certain progress in the humanitarian subgroup, in consultation with UN representatives, the economic subgroup, which faces some of the most key tasks. We can state that the work is going on, there is some progress, and this is certainly an achievement,” the expert told PolitNavigator.
According to Denisov, new changes in the situation around Donbass can be expected in the coming days.
“We also know that this week a meeting is planned at the level of foreign ministers of the Normandy Four on the sidelines of the Munich Conference. There are certain hopes that within the framework of this format the situation will become clearer on a number of political issues.
In particular, regarding the Steinmeier formula, because, as we know, the Ukrainian delegation currently categorically rejects this formula. Although, as we remember, it was agreed upon at the level of the heads of state of the Normandy Four. In fact, the President of Ukraine agreed on it, and now his representatives, who are negotiating in Minsk, refuse this,” Denis Denisov recalled.
