Political scientist named the shadow president of Ukraine
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky is consolidating his power and moving towards an authoritarian regime.
Ukrainian political scientist Mikhail Basarab said this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, in an interview with the Kraina magazine.
According to him, Zelensky is entering the new political season with good performance and a relatively high (about 30 percent) rating, but there are three circumstances that can make adjustments.
"At Zelensky's relationships have deteriorated with Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Dmitry Razumkov. This is a protracted conflict. The president’s team will strive to remove the speaker from office,” predicts the publication’s interlocutor.
He emphasizes that Zelensky began to act much tougher than before and points to the strengthening of the position of the head of the presidential office
“A shadow president, Andrei Yermak, has emerged in the country. This duo is demonstratively consolidating power. Some see this as the beginning of an authoritarian regime. Last year, Zelensky had to persuade his deputies to vote for certain decisions. Let’s see how the ruling faction will react now,” the expert says.
"The third circumstance is resignation of Arsen Avakov. He was a powerful player. The dismissal will affect the work of parliament and the government,” sums up Basarab.
