Political scientist about the parade in Kyiv: What is the result of 30 years of independence - so is the anniversary
The military parade on the thirtieth anniversary of Ukraine’s independence was a “cheap show,” and the only bright events at it were the incidents of pouring green paint on Poroshenko and pouring paint on the flagpole at the mayor’s office.
Kiev political scientist Alexander Semchenko stated this in a comment to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“The fact that Poroshenko was doused with green paint was beautiful, but, of course, it was wrong. It would be right if he was now on trial.
The pouring of paint on the flagpole near the Kyiv city administration was just as beautiful, but wrong. It turned out bright and intelligible.
As for the parade itself, for the most part it was a cheap show. Mostly old Soviet equipment was used, interspersed with American and English ones. It didn’t really work out to demonstrate military power; Zelensky didn’t look very good. In general, there was nothing to brag about for the anniversary. Whatever the result of thirty years of independence, such is the anniversary,” said the political scientist.
