Political scientist about Zelensky voters: “They don’t want to go to bed with Russia”
Moscow is actually not satisfied with any situation with the elections in Ukraine, except for the victory of gas lobbyist Yuri Boyko, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This opinion was expressed by Russian political scientist Gleb Pavlovsky in an interview with Novaya Gazeta.
As for Vladimir Zelensky, who advanced to the second round from first place, “he looks too strange and unpredictable for Moscow,” says Pavlovsky.
According to the political scientist, Zelensky’s electorate is people who do not want to “go to bed with Russia,” but are “tired of war” and cannot “tolerate corruption.”
“Zelensky’s candidacy may suit Moscow partly, since from the Kremlin’s point of view he is a weak candidate,” says Pavlovsky. He added that if Zelensky wins in the second round, a power vacuum in Ukraine cannot be ruled out and Moscow will take advantage of this and begin to “play to chaotize the field.”
The political scientist also called a dangerous scenario in which Zelensky will not be able to master the situation in the country and a “war of all against all” will begin in Ukraine.
