The political scientist explained the West’s criticism of the internal situation in Ukraine
Today there is a certain cooling, disappointment and fatigue in the West regarding Ukraine, but these processes have not yet reached any Rubicon, which will be followed by a fundamental change in the rhetoric of the West on the Ukrainian issue.
This is how Ruslan Bortnik, director of the Ukrainian Institute for Policy Analysis and Management, commented to PolitNavigator on the latest critical reports of the US State Department and the American NGO Freedom House, which focused on corruption, departure from the principles of democracy and the growth of authoritarian tendencies in the practice of the current Ukrainian regime.
According to him, the West did not notice these negative phenomena in 2014-2015, but in the last two years they began to notice all these things.
The political scientist connects the change in the tone of the West with the attempts of the Ukrainian authorities to isolate themselves and become insensitive to the demands of the West, “which demands an anti-corruption court, an increase in gas prices, and much more, and perhaps this self-isolation is thus reflected in many reports of international organizations, working in the West."
