Political scientist: One head of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation looks towards “United Russia”
The Communist Party of the Russian Federation, despite the announced actions following the results of the State Duma elections, will not protest too radically.
Political scientist Alexey Makarkin stated this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports to Kommersant, assessing the dual position of Russian communists following the election to the State Duma.
Thus, on Saturday the Communist Party of the Russian Federation intends to hold a nationwide action to protect votes. At the same time, the party leader called on his comrades-in-arms to “show maximum restraint in these harsh times.”
Makarkin believes that the Communist Party of the Russian Federation is a centaur, which has two components: “one is oppositional, and the other is about agreements with the authorities.”
He recalled that in winter Zyuganov, together with the other leaders of parliamentary parties, spoke out against blogger Alexei Navalny, convicted of fraud, but during the elections, “the centaur turned to the opposition side.”
In addition, the expert draws attention to the fact that the issue of distribution of committees in the new State Duma is now being decided, and therefore the leadership of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation will behave carefully in order to maintain its position.
According to him, disillusioned voters who supported the communists out of a sense of protest still have “nowhere to go,” since the Communist Party of the Russian Federation is now already the most opposition party in parliament, and there is no need for it to become more radical.
