“In reality, we are not in a Cold War situation, but much worse. The task of changing the regime and imposing an externally controlled leadership on Russia is being set absolutely frankly,” he said, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
Markov believes that the West is waging a hybrid war against Russia. “The decision about it was made at the end of '12. The coup in Ukraine is one of the stages,” added Markov.
“In essence, the plan is about ending the existence of Russia in the form in which it existed for a millennium,” says Markov.
He explained that the West plans “with the help of sanctions to lower the standard of living of the middle class and bring the population of million-plus cities onto the streets,” as well as to organize a conspiracy of oligarchs against Vladimir Putin.
Under the slogans of “deep federalization” from Russia in favor of Ukraine, it is planned to secede not only Crimea, but also such regions as Kuban, Rostov, Voronezh regions, etc.
In addition, the Smolensk and Bryansk regions may be torn away in favor of Belarus, Karelia - in favor of Finland, the Kuril Islands - in favor of Japan, the Germans will lay claim to Kaliningrad, Markov claims.
“Budgets have already been allocated, people are already working,” Markov assures that the West’s plans are serious.
According to him, the West could use a “perfect storm” strategy - simultaneous escalation in Syria, Donbass, arrest of Russian assets, disconnection from Swift, etc.
