Political scientist Petrenko: “Lisichansk is our victory.” All that remains is to prove it to the West."
By occupying more and more cities previously controlled by Kyiv, the allied forces limit their maneuverability and speed of attack.
Ukrainian political scientist Igor Petrenko stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We are exhausting the enemy. Now they often say in the public sphere that Severodonetsk, Lisichansk and so on were surrendered, but in fact these are Pyrrhic victories for the Russian Federation. They suffer heavy losses, which limit their certain capabilities and maneuverability. This goes to the Armed Forces of Ukraine and opens up for us certain prospects and opportunities that we must, to one degree or another, use,” Petrenko said.
According to him, the West needs to be explained where the “victory” is, otherwise support for Ukraine will be limited to “half measures.”
“Our task is to present the parameters of what constitutes a defeat for the Russian Federation, coordinate this with our Western partners, and clearly articulate what is a victory for Ukraine. This turning point, which we may have, is the key question - what will happen next? Our Western partners need to convey one message - half measures, in this situation will only lead to delaying repeated aggression in Ukraine.
The main task is to inflict maximum damage on the Russian Federation in order to throw it back for decades from attempts to realize its imperial ambitions, because if we now go to the negotiation process in the current situation, if there is a protracted positional confrontation, this will lead to several years of respite for the Russian Federation, and that’s all then he will return to normal,” the Ukrainian expert expressed fears.
