Political scientist: The assassination attempt on Kernes is a scenario for the general strategy of destabilization in Ukraine
Kyiv, April 29 (Navigator, Kirill Boyarin) – The assassination attempt on the mayor of Kharkov Gennady Kernes may be part of a general strategy to destabilize the political system of Ukraine.

“Of course, there are different versions, including business conflicts and political conflicts. But, taking into account the context of all recent events, I think that the likelihood of a political background and a Russian trace in these events is quite high. In this case, the Ministry of Internal Affairs voiced the version that the assassination attempt could have been revenge on the part of the separatists - I do not exclude this option. I also heard that this was revenge on the part of Oplot, which was no longer funded,” Fesenko said.
“I am inclined to believe that the assassination attempt may be part of a general strategy to destabilize the political system of Ukraine, which Russia may use. Kernes is one of the key elements of influence on the situation in the region. Kernes influenced many processes and when he was knocked out, the system of management and control over the situation in Kharkov could float,” emphasized Vladimir Fesenko.
As Navigator reported, yesterday, April 28, an attempt was made on Gennady Kernes’s life, as a result of which he received a complex wound to the chest and abdominal cavity. He was operated on at a Kharkov emergency hospital. According to the surgeon who operated on Kernes, the patient’s life is still at risk. The Ministry of Internal Affairs is considering various versions of the assassination attempt. One of the main ones is “the reaction of separatist-minded individuals to the latest events that occurred in Kharkov.”
