Political scientist: The previous alliance between Great Britain and Poland ended in the flight of the Polish authorities from the country
Great Britain had already entered into an alliance with Poland and it all ended with it “merging” its ally in 1939.
Political scientist Vsevolod Stepanyuk said this in a comment to a Politnavigator correspondent, commenting on the statement of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmitry Kuleba about the possibility of concluding an alliance between Ukraine, Poland and the UK.
“Kuleba is wishful thinking, as usual. And in general, the alliance with Great Britain has never led to anything good for any country that has entered into such an alliance. It is difficult to hope for a country whose policy is based on the fact that it has neither friends nor enemies, but only interests.
And if interests change, then she sells anyone, including allies. The experience of Poland in 1939 testifies to this very clearly - how Great Britain “fulfilled its allied obligations” - it simply handed over its ally to be torn to pieces by Hitler. With such allies, there is basically no need for enemies. Poland's alliance with Britain ended with the occupation of Poland in 1939. Great Britain had every opportunity to help then, but did not do so,” the political scientist concluded.
