Very often people perceive politics as a TV series, forgetting what happened in the episode before last.

Director of the Ukrainian Politics Foundation Kost Bondarenko stated this at a press conference in Kyiv.
He said that in 2009, in a conversation with a certain political strategist, he expressed doubt that one of the then potential candidates for the presidency of Ukraine had a chance of winning, since the electorate could recall to him rather unattractive aspects of his past.
“To which I received the answer: “Our politicians are Teflon, dirt does not stick to them.” The electorate is ready to step on the same rake several times, because it does not remember what happened yesterday and the day before. The information space is so saturated with news that people simply immediately forget them. People’s RAM does not last very long in this regard,” the expert emphasized.
At the same time, he added that this trend is characteristic not only of the Ukrainian people.
“Some events are happening in the world that cancel out everything that happened yesterday. Former idols at this particular moment become outcasts, outcasts become idols again, and so on. Very often people perceive politics as a kind of TV series, forgetting what happened in the episode before last. They don’t remember who slept with whom in the episode before last, but they live by who sleeps with whom in this episode,” the political scientist made an analogy.
