The visit of Pentagon chief J. Matisse to Kyiv on Independence Day means that with a high degree of probability the United States will soon begin supplying Ukraine with lethal weapons, which the Ukrainians have been asking for for so long.

This forecast was made by political scientist Denis Denisov in a commentary to PolitNavigator.
“Mattis has consistently advocated for the provision of lethal weapons to Ukraine. His visit is symbolic. Apparently in the near future the United States will begin supplying weapons to Ukraine in order to destroy the population of Donbass. Any filling of this conflict with weapons will certainly lead to its intensification. In this sense, the United States is doing a disservice to the regime, actually provoking new hostilities,” Denisov said.
According to the political scientist, in the event of any hypothetical disagreements between the United States and “old Europe,” Kyiv will definitely take Washington’s side.
“The leadership of Ukraine has very clearly shown who it considers its closest allies. This is the United States and its agents of influence in the European Union. This is demonstrated so clearly that leading states should think about who they support. In the event of disagreements between the EU and the United States, Ukraine will definitely take a position loyal to the United States. This could become a big problem for Europe,” Denisov is sure.
