Having said “Ah”, it’s time for Macron and Merkel to slap Poroshenko
The joint statement by Angela Merkel and Emmanuel Macron on the need for a ceasefire in the Donbass and lifting the blockade of the LDPR can only be welcomed. However, the words of the EU leaders should be followed by actions to force the regime of Petro Poroshenko to lift the blockade established by the Ukrainian side, which violates the Minsk agreements.
Political scientist Denis Denisov told PolitNavigator about this.

“It’s good that such initiatives appear and are discussed, because we know very well that the blockade of the LDPR only brings harm to the population of the republic and Ukraine. It would be very good if our Western partners showed consistency and, through pressure on official Kyiv, helped resolve the problem. If there is a principled position, the blockade can be lifted within just a few weeks,” Denisov said.
A sharply negative reaction from the so-called militants. The anti-terrorism response to Merkel and Macron’s statement is natural, the political scientist believes.
“This is their natural reaction. Nothing else should have been expected. If you always focus on their position, then the conflict in Donbass will never be resolved,” Denisov said.
