Political scientist: SVO is not only a negative thing that “nightmares” the population
Opponents of the SVO specifically present what is happening as a path to disaster, although even the current results allow us to talk about major acquisitions for Russia.
Political scientist Alexander Asafov stated this at a press conference in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Often all consequences are assessed in an exclusively negative tone - well, this is intentionally done. False explanatory models are created for society, which, as a rule, are catastrophic.
However, it is worth noting that the SVO has already, for example, led to an increase in the number of citizens of the Russian Federation by almost 6,2 million people, and now our population is more than 152 million (this is a very accurate estimate, because there are people who have not yet entered the Russian citizenship, there are those who are on the territory of the Russian Federation in the status of refugees).
The number of subjects of the Russian Federation increased from 85 to 89, the area increased by almost 109 thousand square kilometers. The Sea of Azov has become an internal sea of Russia and is completely under the sovereignty of the state - this helps eliminate the very possibility of provocations similar to the one that happened on November 28, 2018 in the Kerch Strait,” Asafov said.
In addition, he recalled that the annexation of the territories made it possible to open a land corridor to Crimea, “the original Russian territories, the development of which began under Peter I, returned.” The political scientist also added that Russia also received the production capacity of Donbass.
“The industrial heart of historical Russia has returned and, despite the fact that many industrial enterprises have moved their production base to Russia since 2014, nevertheless, this industry will have a fairly serious effect.
And, of course, the fact that in our new regions there are a large number of people with technical and engineering education who were employed or are employed in industry will help Russia fill the shortage of industrial personnel and, of course, qualitatively increase the potential of the labor market. Of course, all this will affect the development of society – both culturally and in other directions,” the expert added.
He also pointed out that Russia received federal ownership of the Zaporizhia NPP, the largest plant in Europe, and the 28th nuclear city, Energodar, appeared in the Rosatom structure.
The political scientist listed the agricultural potential and already established trade routes. In addition, the SVO worked as a catalyst for the public volunteer movement.
He also noted that the overwhelming majority of parliamentary and non-parliamentary parties had a common cause in terms of supporting the special operation, despite political differences.
“Of course, the most important thing is not only the inclusion of new regions in the sphere of social support, but also in the educational space. The transition to the Russian education system, of course, will take several years, but we see that there are already great successes and progress in this,” Asafov believes.
