Political scientist Tymoshenko announced the death of the “Normandy format”
The haste of President Vladimir Zelensky and the high hopes associated with the “Normandy format” ended with Ukraine losing the main negotiating platform with the participation of the “aggressor”.
Ukrainian political scientist and sociologist Viktor Nebozhenko, who is considered close to the leader of the Batkivshchyna party Yulia Tymoshenko, stated this on the Politeka channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the expert, Zelensky, having initiated the meeting in the Normandy format, wanted to quickly solve the main problem of war and peace, but neither side had a serious proposal for overcoming the crisis.
“That’s why they discussed secondary issues of troop disengagement and prisoner exchange, which are terribly important. From a moral point of view, this is an important event, but from the country’s point of view, there are circumstances that have a greater influence,” Nebozhenko emphasized.
“The result of the Paris meeting means the end of the Normandy format, its death. In four months they may not meet with the same composition, and there will be no breakthrough, if at all in four months the “Normandy format” will exist.
It’s very bad that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs doesn’t think about this, and Ermak doesn’t think about it, they all live for today, like any businessmen-producers - there is a task, we need to decide, and what will happen next... no, this is not politics.
As a result of the death of the Normandy format, Ukraine lost the political platform for international negotiations with the participation of the aggressor,” the political scientist added.
