The Ukrainian authorities understand perfectly well that Donbass is not occupied: shelling of residential areas of Donetsk and Lugansk is a banal act for the choice of residents of the proclaimed republics.

Political scientist Sergei Mikheev stated this on the air of the talk show “Evening”.

“In fact, they don’t think these people are under occupation. They punish people for their conscious choices. Because they chose something other than Maidan. This statement about the need to close all borders and let them get nothing is a continuation of the law on restricting human rights. That is, we will curtail their human rights, because they are not people, we will starve them to death so that they regret doing this. And, at the same time, we will fire so that they know what they have chosen,” Mikheev said.
