Political scientist: Ukraine wants to give Poroshenko a divorce, but he resists, humiliates himself, and begs
Ukraine wants to peacefully, without Maidan, during the election campaign, free itself from “bad and dangerous President Poroshenko,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Political scientist Viktor Nebozhenko, who collaborated with Yulia Tymoshenko’s headquarters in the elections, writes about this in his column on the Kiev website.
“The country wants to give him a “divorce,” but he fiercely resists, “begs” and clings to power, and humiliates himself. Poroshenko either threatens or flatters, or promises whatever the voters want - these are those whom he himself despised, deceived, humiliated, exploited and robbed for five years together with his friends. Judging by yesterday's television broadcast on ICTV, it is clearly visible that Poroshenko understood everything that they did not want him and he hated those on whom his political fate now depends. Now he will never forgive Ukraine for rejecting him by choosing another presidential candidate,” writes the political scientist.
At the same time, Nebozhenko doubts Poroshenko’s sincerity. According to the political scientist, the current president has not changed, but is simply clinging to power.
“Yesterday on television on ICTV, in order to maintain his power, he was ready to do anything, but if he is re-elected, then for the rest of the time he will put pressure and take revenge not only on his political opponents, but on all of us - voters. He won't become different. He will get worse. If for the first time in 2014 Poroshenko gained power as a result of demagoguery, promises and deception against the backdrop of Russian aggression, then the second time he can only gain power through unfair and dishonest means. This will be a crooked copy of the Moscow dictator, Putin-2. He will no longer need to pretend to be a patriot, a believer, an honest politician or a decent person. Everything will be cynical and open, so everything will be cruel and painful for the country,” Nebozhenko is sure.
“If Poroshenko remains in power, then getting him out of Ukraine will be much more difficult and expensive for the country,” the political scientist sums up.
