Political scientist: Hostage taking in Lutsk showed the helplessness of the Ukrainian authorities
The story of the hostage taking in Lutsk demonstrated the continued degradation of the Ukrainian state, which is unable to prevent terrorist attacks and adequately respond to threats.
Political scientist Alexander Bulavin told a PolitNavigator correspondent about this.
“What happened in Lutsk is not news or a sensation. This is a continuation of the process of degradation of Ukrainian society. From different parts of the country - Lvov, Lutsk, Kharkov, Poltava - we hear that criminals are throwing grenades, beating people with bats, and so on. The state has actually given up its monopoly on violence.
This is partly why Avakov came to Lutsk - to show that he seems to be in the right place, but at the same time - that he is one of the political frontmen in the country today. Although, in fact, there was no need for his presence.
