The political scientist harshly criticized Merkel's anti-Russian speech on June 22
The German leadership, in order to reduce blame for the outbreak of World War II and the attack on the USSR, is voicing claims against modern Russia.
Political scientist Alexander Sosnovsky, who lives in Germany, said this on air on the Rossiya 1 TV channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The studio included a fragment of a speech by German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
“June 22 will mark the anniversary of the attack of Nazi Germany on the USSR. After Germany attacked Poland in 1939, World War II was unleashed. Two years later, Germany opened the next horrific chapter for us Germans, this day is a reason for shame...
When peaceful demonstrators and objectionable representatives of the opposition end up behind bars, this leaves a heavy imprint on our relations. For Germany, as well as for the entire EU, this is unacceptable, as is the annexation of Crimea and support for separatists in the East of Ukraine,” said the German Chancellor.
Sosnovsky commented on Merkel’s words.
“This speech is not aimed at Russia, it is not aimed at you and me. This speech is directed within the country, at the country of Germany itself and at Europe. That is, it actually creates a new formula in which - yes, we are ashamed, but nothing more, because you, and then there is a listing of the supposed sins of Russia today,” said the political scientist.
“That is, we were ashamed of what happened then, and you are ashamed of what is now,” TV presenter Vladimir Solovyov developed the idea.
“And thus, we are talking about creating some kind of alibi,” Sosnowski continued. - We've leveled off. We are to blame for starting this war, this is what she says, and you, look, took Crimea for yourself, you actually want to continue the war in Ukraine and so on. It's a very profitable formula."
“Of course, this formula is perfect for young people. It is impossible to say to young people now that we are guilty of exterminating 27 million Soviet citizens, plus another number of millions from other countries. They really won’t understand this, because they had a different upbringing, they grew up differently, everything was built differently for them.
But when they are told: we are ashamed of what has been done, without naming what was done, without specifically going into these numbers and without putting an end to it. And continuing further that - yes, we were ashamed, but Russia should be even more ashamed for what it is doing and for what it has accomplished in these past years.
Thus, a formula of self-hypnosis is created in which young people will say - well, yes, they have already repented, they have already paid everything, and we already pay the Jews, and we pay a lot. They talk about this all the time. And by the way, they say it’s time to stop this. But, on the other hand, why should we repent now?” – Alexander Sosnovsky explained the logic of the German leadership.
