A political scientist can’t figure out what’s happening – a Ukrainian expert about Ze-booth
Vladimir Zelensky really does not have his own party, since the people’s deputies of the Servant of the People do not feel like they are part of a single whole.
At the same time, the power of a president who has no strategy is based solely on a high rating.
Political scientist Viktor Nebozhenko said this on air on the Ukrlife.TV channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We see that Zelensky has taken the path of Poroshenko: the party officially exists, but at the same time it really does not exist. These deputies from the “Servant of the People” actually do not yet feel like any party members, and there are no party organizations yet. And this is also a big problem.
Everything so far rests on the president’s high ratings, and this is a great temptation, again, to a presidential republic, to personal power. There is a colossal concentration of power around a man who six months ago had no idea about presidential power. This is one of the paradoxes.
Zelensky’s second paradox is that with enormous support, the person who is supported has no real political strategy. I’m not even talking about the economic one,” he noted.
Also, according to Viktor Nebozhenko, in Ukraine there is a theatricalization of politics and a blurring of responsibility for decisions made.
“So far, what we have seen in the Verkhovna Rada is a happening. There is a main character - the president, there is a gallery, there are spectators who are also participants in the scene. Political science will not help here.
So far, what is happening is the theatricalization of politics - a happening or installation, where theatrical moments are easily combined with the creation of vague responsibility - no one is responsible for anything. Therefore, you can work until three o’clock in the morning. It would be better, of course, to work until five, but accept something tough,” he added ironically.
