“I didn’t hear that scream then, I was far from that guy. It’s just that journalists from the United States were walking next to him, and he wanted to shout: “American journalists are with us.” And it jammed. But if this case had not happened, it would have been invented anyway,” Mamchur said in an interview with Reporter magazine.
Now, as the publication writes, the colonel is “raising Ukrainian aviation in Nikolaev.” Together with Mamchur, 38% of his subordinates left Crimea.
“Those who stayed there are traitors... the attitude towards them is appropriate. They are controlled by the FSB and they are very scared. More than three people don’t gather together, they practically don’t talk to each other about anything... Immediately after the unit was captured, everyone was taken out and wiretapped,” says the colonel.
It is noteworthy that Mamchur himself denied Ukrainian media reports about the transfer of former Ukrainian aircraft from Crimea to Donbass.
“Our defectors told the Russians what machines could fly, but they were not given to us. They just stand still and are not used,” the colonel said.
“After this shake-up, the population of Ukraine began to turn into a people. We have become a monolith. Trouble brought us together, showed who is a coward and who is a traitor. She has greatly repopulated us,” says Mamchur.
