Colonel Mamchur is by no means a hero, - Turchinov

About this in an interview with a Kyiv publication censor.net said former acting President of Ukraine Alexander Turchynov.
According to him, Mamchur’s recent statement that Crimea could have been protected is nothing more than self-PR.
“This is an attempt to make yourself a hero. Indeed, he passed there with a banner, but even part of it was surrendered without a single shot. And at the same time, he was also captured without offering armed resistance. Therefore, you can talk about your own heroism, but if I were Yuli Mamchur, I wouldn’t do this. Yes. I myself made heroes out of people like Mamchur, and I myself spoke then about the heroism of our military. I had no other alternative. I took on all the negativity, and through the media I spread information about the courage and heroism of our military in order to raise patriotic sentiments in society. People should have been proud of their army, which did not even shoot and did not follow orders. After all, at that time we simply did not have another army. It is impossible to effectively mobilize the population against the backdrop of curses towards the military, who are surrendering their bases, arsenals, planes and ships without a fight,” admitted the former Supreme Commander-in-Chief.
According to Alexander Turchinov, who surrendered Mamchur, together with other prisoners and his captured son Gritsenko, he exchanged them for several Russian special service officers arrested in Kyiv.
