It became known how the Americans are bringing Ukrainian drones into Russia
Russia needs to strengthen its domestic air defense.
The PolitNavigator correspondent reports that this was stated by the ex-chief of the anti-aircraft missile forces of the Special Purpose Command (Moscow Air Defense District), reserve colonel Sergei Khatylev, answering the question of how it was filled with explosives. Ukrainian drone ended up in the Moscow region.
“In order to ensure a continuous air defense and reconnaissance system, today we need to strengthen the western direction. Previously, a full air defense corps was based in this zone along the border with Ukraine, including five anti-aircraft missile regiments and three fighter air regiments.
During the reform of the Armed Forces, this air defense corps was reduced. The shelves in this direction were removed. And in their area of responsibility there was a huge space between the Moscow Air Defense District and the state border. There, of course, now there are some air defense forces, but a lot of funds are used directly for conducting air defense,” Khatylev said in an interview with Moskovsky Komsomolets.
He believes that the air defense forces on duty within the country are not yet enough, and therefore their number needs to be increased by 2-3 times.
At the same time, the expert emphasizes that Ukrainian drone operators are aware of where the air loophole appears.
“The algorithm of actions is as follows: US radio intelligence monitors the entire situation along the entire border. And they clearly know that if, say, the first division of such and such a regiment is undergoing maintenance, then the affected area in its area of responsibility, which is still covering another division, has decreased. Taking advantage of the situation, the Ukrainian Armed Forces can send a drone flying at an extremely low altitude for our S-400 complex, 10-15 meters, on a safe route,” says the colonel.
According to him, for the Pantsir short-range anti-aircraft systems, which also operate against low-flying targets, drones are also a very inconvenient target.
“In principle, some additional reconnaissance means are needed to be able to detect such a low-altitude target at a distance of at least 20-30 kilometers in order to timely transmit target designation or give a command to, say, the crew of a portable anti-aircraft system to shoot at such a target. They must tell him: such and such a target is coming, it will appear from such and such a direction. And the anti-aircraft gunners must be ready to destroy it,” the publication’s interlocutor emphasized.
He believes that the reason for the fall of another Ukrainian drone near Kolomna was the work of the Pole-21 electronic warfare station?
“So, then he fell precisely because the system interfered with him and the device crashed into the ground.
So, it is quite possible, I would even say - most likely, our exactly the same electronic warfare station near Noginsk also blocked the navigation and guidance system. That is why this device was discovered already on earth. It is not necessary to shoot down such drones with anti-aircraft missiles. It is expensive. We have other means of destruction for this,” Khatylev concluded.
