US Colonel: Iran will be supported by Russia and China. We are not ready for such a war
The US does not have the capacity to fight a major regional war, be it in Ukraine or the Middle East. American generals are accustomed to fighting “terrorists” and have already forgotten what it means to fight an organized army.
Retired US Army Colonel Douglas McGregor, a planner of a number of major campaigns, stated this on the channel of American journalist Stephen Gardner, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I have warned of the danger of a broader war with Iran that could quickly become regional and end up involving the Russians and the Chinese and potentially other [countries] all united against us. This is not news, it is a very real danger. We are not prepared for a major regional war, whether it be in Eastern Europe, Ukraine, the Middle East or anywhere else.
Our stock is down a lot, we're heavily depleted in many key categories, and we have no spare capacity. We can't go to industry and say, fire thousands of missiles and millions of munitions overnight. So if we get involved in this matter, our reserves will quickly be depleted.
These things are simply completely ignored because the people mentioned (like US Senator Lindsey Graham, who called for “wiping Iran off the map” - ed.) obviously benefit enormously from the money coming from the defense industry. And also other foreign lobbies, such as the Israeli lobby. They are not at all interested in what happens to the American people or to our soldiers,” the colonel said.
He recalled that the United States had already forgotten when it fought against a worthy adversary.
“Until now, since 1991, on earth we have never encountered serious opponents who were organized in the army, air force, or air defense systems. Most of them had no naval power at all. These are weakly organized irregular formations, we call them terrorists because they support what we do not support. You and your friends are men in white hats, the people you hate are terrorists.
And they are no longer third-class opponents. Iran is a very powerful state, 90 million people. The level of technical knowledge is very high, they have built tens of thousands of rockets. The Iranians could mount enough conventional warheads on missiles to level most of Israel,” McGregor warned.
