“Every day, an operation in the east of the country costs Ukrainian taxpayers and the Ukrainian state 100 million hryvnia,” Poroshenko said, opening a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council, reports UNN.
He stated that the conflict in Donbass caused huge losses to the Ukrainian economy.
“A full-scale enemy offensive could happen at any minute. We must be prepared for this,” he emphasized. At the same time, the Ukrainian president stated that for the first time in all the years of Ukraine’s independence, the level of trust in the church and the army was equal.
“We have come very close, I can say so, to the level of spending on security and defense to the level of 5% of GDP and have fulfilled the task set by those deputies who joined the coalition,” Poroshenko said.
He also stated that he insists on an extraordinary consideration of the abolition of non-bloc status. “This does not mean joining NATO, but we are restoring Euro-Atlantic integration,” the president emphasized.
As PolitNavigator reported, earlier in the German media there was criticism of the actions of the Ukrainian government, which is actually “financing the bloodiest war since World War II” with the money of European taxpayers.
