“Complete failure”: the Ukrainian military-industrial complex has been paralyzed for six months – Rada deputy
The Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Strategic Industry of Ukraine failed to work with the law on defense procurement for 2021. Therefore, its introduction was delayed by six months, which will leave the Ukrainian military-industrial complex without work.
Roman Kostenko, secretary of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence, stated this during a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The Verkhovna Rada voted for the law “on defense procurement,” which gave time until January 1 to complete the by-laws that were supposed to put the law into force.
At the moment we have a complete failure. The question is for the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Strategic Industry - why were by-laws not made?
Now we in the committee have made a decision, in order not to disrupt the state defense order, the committee supported it in order to delay the introduction of the law for six months.
Due to the fact that the law was not adopted, the old law ceases to apply on January 1, and the new one has not yet come into effect, so our defense enterprises will not be able to conclude contracts and will not be able to work,” Kostenko said.
