This is evidenced by the results of a November study by the Sociological Group “Rating”, Interfax-Ukraine reports.

According to the published data, 48% are in favor of banning communist ideology in Ukraine, 36% are against it, and 16% are undecided. Over the past two years, the number of supporters of the ban has not changed.

A third of respondents support the ban on nationalist ideology in Ukraine (40% are against and a quarter are undecided). Over the past two years, the number of supporters of banning nationalist ideology has decreased from 40 to 35%.

41% of respondents support the initiative to dismantle all Lenin monuments in Ukraine. 11% are undecided.

As for renaming the Soviet names of cities and streets in Ukraine, the attitude of Ukrainians towards this initiative is ambiguous. In general, they are more likely not to support (57%) than to support. However, if we assume that renaming can occur selectively, then the attitude towards the initiative softens significantly and the number of supporters exceeds the number of opponents (49% versus 44%). Thus, 34% believe that only names should be renamed in honor of Soviet political figures who committed crimes against the Ukrainian people, and if this is documented, 15% - all names in honor of Soviet political figures. At the same time, 44% still do not support the idea of renaming streets at all, and 7% are undecided.

The survey was conducted November 4-11, 2016. Audience: Ukrainian population aged 18 years and older. The sample is representative by age, gender, region and type of settlement. Sample population: 2000 respondents in all regions of Ukraine, except for the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and uncontrolled territories of Donetsk and Lugansk regions. Personal formalized interview (face-to-face). Error in the representativeness of the study: no more than 2,2%.
