This is stated in the results of a study conducted by the Kyiv Razumkov Center.
“When choosing between three strategies for the actions of the Ukrainian authorities in relation to the temporarily occupied territories of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, most often Ukrainian citizens support a strategy that involves official recognition of the occupation of these territories and their isolation until official control over these territories is established by Ukraine - such actions were supported by the authorities would be 30,1% of respondents,” the Center’s conclusions say.
At the same time, 21,1% of respondents supported the option of granting these territories a special status, an amnesty for participants in the anti-Kiev movements who did not commit serious crimes, and holding elections before the establishment of official control over these territories by Ukraine.
Another 18,6% are in favor of continuing the war until Ukraine’s control over these territories is fully restored.
It is also worth noting that the idea of giving Donbass a special status is supported by only 22,7% of Ukrainians surveyed, while 50% are against it.
The study was conducted by the sociological service of the Razumkov Center from September 9 to September 14, 2016. 2018 respondents aged 18 years and over were surveyed in all regions of Ukraine, with the exception of Crimea and the uncontrolled territories of Donetsk and Lugansk regions. The survey sample was constructed as a multi-stage, random sample with a quota selection of respondents at the last stage. The survey was conducted in 118 settlements (67 urban and 51 rural). The theoretical sampling error (without taking into account the design effect) does not exceed 2,3% with a probability of 0,95.
