Half of the Ukrainian defense order is in private hands
Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Alexander Turchynov states that more than 50% of the state defense order is carried out by private companies, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“More than 50% of defense orders are already carried out by private companies,” he said during the IX National Expert Forum on Thursday in Kyiv.
In addition, Turchynov added that the National Security and Defense Council is currently preparing a number of decisions to liberalize foreign economic activity, and they will be adopted in the near future.
“This includes: allowing direct export of all manufacturers of military equipment and weapons, regardless of whether they belong to the public sector or the private sector. We will allow imports without restrictions for manufacturers, regardless of their form of ownership, for their own needs in the production of military equipment and weapons,” he noted.
All restrictions on direct contracts of law enforcement agencies for the purchase of weapons abroad will also be lifted when the Ukrainian manufacturer cannot meet the needs.
According to the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, such steps will strengthen the defense capability of the state.
