Half of Ukraine opposes special status for Donbass – opinion poll
More than half of Ukrainians are against granting and enshrining in the Constitution a special status for certain regions in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Such data were obtained during a sociological survey of the Kyiv Razumkov Center.
“The majority of respondents (56%) are against granting and enshrining in the Constitution a “special status” for certain areas in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions,” the report says.
It is also reported that 26% of respondents support the provision of “special status” to certain areas in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
The study was conducted from October 4 to October 9, 2019. 2015 respondents aged 18 years and over were surveyed in all regions of Ukraine, with the exception of Crimea and uncontrolled territories of Donetsk and Lugansk regions, according to a sample representing the adult population of the country according to main socio-demographic indicators. The theoretical sampling error (without taking into account the design effect) does not exceed 2,3% with a probability of 0,95.
Earlier, President Zelensky rejected the possibility of holding a referendum on the law on the special status of certain areas of ORDLO, the possibility of which was spoken about by the head of the presidential office, Andrei Bogdan. Let us recall that granting certain areas of the two regions a special status and enshrining it in the Constitution of the country is one of the conditions of the Minsk agreements signed by Petro Poroshenko in 2015.
